Tip for adding value and saleability to your property!

The kitchen is often the centre of the home, so it's important to focus on it when preparing your property for sale. Start by decluttering all surfaces and the tops and insides of cupboards, then style the space with a matching set of chrome kettle and toaster. Refresh the walls with a splash of moisture-resistant paint (choose a neutral colour). If you want to give cupboards a new lease of life, paint them or look online for 'how to guides' for replacing the doors.

Old lighting can make a room look dull, so switch out old bulbs for LED ones. If your blinds or curtains are old, swap them for white wide-slatted wooden Venetian blinds, which give the feel of shutters for minimal cost.

For low-cost finishing touches, hang some art pieces that pick out a colour in the pictures, and add tea towels or scatter cushions with the same hue. Place a vase of fresh flowers on the table and add some herbs in pretty pots to the windowsill.

If you have more to spend, refurbish work surfaces with composite overlays, such as Granite Transformations, and update your sink by replacing old taps with a modern look.
