Why people choose to live in Blyth

Is Blyth a nice place to live? For most people who move here the answer is yes, with one honest caveat: Blyth is a large working town part-way through a long regeneration, so it changes noticeably from one area to the next. What people value is the mix you rarely find at this price — a long sandy beach and dunes at South Beach, a quayside and marina being rebuilt around the Port of Blyth and its offshore-energy work, and, since the Northumberland Line reopened, direct trains to Newcastle from Blyth Bebside without changing. The average home sold for around £154,000 over the last 12 months, across 424 sales recorded by HM Land Registry.

Families tend to focus on Newsham, Cowpen and the estates near South Beach, with Bede Academy and Blyth Academy the main secondary schools; the older terraces closer to the town centre and the streets near the beach offer the best value. It is a working community with a market, independent shops and the Phoenix Theatre rather than a commuter dormitory, and homes we sell here reach a sale agreed in about 14 days on average.

Affordable coastal living with a beach on the doorstep, fast new rail links to Newcastle and ongoing regeneration that is improving the town year on year.
